Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Part Time Thrift Store Sales Associate to join our team. As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing sales transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Provide a positive and welcoming experience for customers, responding to their inquiries and resolving any issues in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit card, and debit transactions.
  • Store Operations
    • Sort and process incoming donations, ensuring that all items are properly priced and displayed.
    • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including the sales floor, stockroom, and customer service area.
    • Assist with visual merchandising, including creating attractive displays and arranging products in a visually appealing manner.
  • Inventory Management
    • Contribute to the control of inventory, retrieving, sorting, and pricing items as directed.
    • Assist with donation turnover, replenishing inventory levels on the sales floor and removing inventory from the sales floor as directed.
  • Health and Safety
    • Contribute to the safety of staff and customers, including maintaining a clean and organized store environment and adhering to health and safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Completion of Secondary School.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience in warehouse processing or goods distribution and knowledge of lifting guidelines.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Advanced social media skills using Facebook and online marketing.
    • Basic math skills required to calculate discounts and percentages.
    • Attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
    • Self-motivated and disciplined.
    • Ability to maintain information in confidence and exercise good judgment.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
Working Conditions
  • This is a permanent part-time position based on 7.5 hours per week, generally on each Saturday.
  • Your supervisor sets the hours of work and work schedule, and flexibility in scheduling is required.
  • This job requires the ability to stand for long periods with frequent twisting, bending, crouching, and reaching is required; the ability to lift/move 40 pounds.
