Your Role:
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer specializing in mining waste management, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and responsible operation of tailings storage facilities. You will leverage your expertise to provide technical guidance, conduct advanced geotechnical studies, and develop innovative solutions that minimize environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the design and planning of tailings storage facilities, incorporating best practices in geotechnical engineering and risk management.
- Conduct comprehensive site investigations, including drilling programs and in-situ testing, to characterize soil properties and assess potential hazards.
- Perform detailed seismic analyses and liquefaction evaluations to ensure the stability of tailings impoundments under earthquake conditions.
- Utilize advanced geotechnical software tools (e.g., PLAXIS, FLAC2D/3D) to model and optimize the design of tailings storage facilities.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a postgraduate degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on tailings management and design of tailings storage facilities.
- Proven expertise in soil mechanics principles, particularly critical state soil mechanics.
- Strong understanding of global industry standards for tailings management (e.g., Global Industry Standard for Tailings Management).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
