Job Summary:
Thompson Bros. (CONSTR.) LP is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Superintendent to oversee the construction of a 4-6 story wood frame multi-family project in Edmonton. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with Thompson Bros. (CONSTR.) LP's health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Organize and manage the job site, subcontractors, suppliers, and crew to achieve project goals.
- Oversee daily construction activities, enforcing company standards and procedures.
- Provide regular schedule updates and ensure quality control inspections are completed accurately.
- Supervise all phases of the project, including quality control and testing.
- Identify and resolve potential problems, work interferences, or schedule difficulties.
- Ensure subcontract forces work efficiently to meet schedule demands and adhere to project plans and specifications.
- Attend site meetings and contribute to project planning and decision-making.
- Review project plans and specifications, providing feedback to the Project Manager on design conflicts, scheduling, cost-saving measures, and potential errors.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with project construction plans, schedules, budgets, man hours, design requirements, and commissioning of project systems.
- Take the lead on productivity issues, monitoring work performance and efficiency of employees and subcontractors.
- Ensure project materials and workmanship meet quality standards.
- Complete and review documented deficiency list items.
Requirements:
- 10 years of construction and supervision experience, post-secondary education (CET or equivalent).
- Demonstrated competence in safety, people/team management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administration.
- Sound knowledge of construction and building techniques, ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.
- Ability to provide direction and resolve problems among 30+ subcontractors and vendors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (proficiency with MS Office, Word, Excel, Project).
- Valid driver's license.
- Leadership for Safety Excellence Certification an asset.
