The SCRUM Master serves as a servant leader, guiding teams on their path to self-organization and the adoption of an agile mindset. This individual is an expert in agile methodologies, well-versed in various agile practices, techniques, and frameworks including, but not limited to, Scrum, Kanban, XP, and Disciplined Agile. The SCRUM Master aids teams in defining their operational processes and facilitates their journey of continuous improvement. As a team facilitator, he/she cultivates the environment necessary for the team to excel in delivering value, ensuring focus on commitments, eliminating obstacles, and promoting enterprise awareness.
KEY CHALLENGES
Serve as SCRUM Master for one or two teams, concentrating on providing guidance regarding agile mindset and practices, self-organization, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Assist teams in maintaining focus on fulfilling their commitments and delivering value with the expected quality. Address obstacles promptly to minimize impact on commitments and enhance value delivery. Support teams in defining their operational processes and ensure adherence. Facilitate essential team meetings (e.g., daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives). Collaborate with the Product Owner to maintain a healthy product backlog and coach them on their role. Ensure coordination across teams with other SCRUM Masters and manage dependencies between teams and external contributors. Guide teams on effective planning and estimation practices. Coach teams on systemic thinking and enterprise awareness. Track and report on relevant team metrics and monitor progress towards project milestones. Actively participate in the Agile Community of practice. Support the organization in adopting an agile mindset and practices. Be a catalyst for change.QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Experience
Minimum of four years of relevant experience in a leadership capacity (e.g., SCRUM Master) with agile teams across various initiatives, applying and reinforcing agile practices. At least five years of experience in Information Technology. Experience in a large organization is a significant asset. Background in the banking industry is an advantage.Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience. SCRUM Master Certification (e.g., CSM, PSM, SSM) or Kanban certification (e.g., TKP, KMP, PSK). Disciplined Agile Certification (e.g., CDA, DALSM, DASM) is a plus.Knowledge and Skills
Familiarity with Agile practices and frameworks such as: Kanban, JIT, Lean principles, Disciplined Agile, XP, SAFe, Nexus, etc. Strong leadership, facilitation, and coaching abilities. Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities. A pragmatic mindset and a systemic approach. Working knowledge of various IT expertise areas. Familiarity with the Azure DevOps platform is an asset.Soft Skills
Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal). Ability to build and manage relationships effectively in a matrix environment. Self-motivated and organized. Proficient in prioritizing tasks efficiently. Adaptable to a changing environment.Language Proficiency
