Job Title: Construction General Manager

At Syms Canada Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction General Manager to lead our construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire construction process, from planning to execution, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Allocate resources, including materials, human resources, and finances, to implement organizational policies and programs.
  • Authorize and organize the establishment of major departments and associated senior staff positions.
  • Coordinate the work of regions, divisions, or departments.
  • Establish financial and administrative controls, formulate and approve promotional campaigns, and approve overall human resources planning.
  • Establish objectives for the organization and formulate or approve policies and programs.
  • Represent the organization, or delegate representatives to act on behalf of the organization, in negotiations or other official functions.
  • Select middle managers, directors, or other executive staff; delegate the necessary authority to them and create optimum working conditions.
  • Staff recruitment and selection.
  • Provide consultation and advice.
  • Project management.
  • Plan schedules, goals, and objectives.
  • Plan development projects.
  • Ensure products and work methods maximize safety, productivity, and comfort.
  • Plan, administer, and control budgets for projects, programs, support services, and equipment.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed.
  • Monitor the project's success after release.
  • Coordinate work activities to ensure projects meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Consult with clients to determine project needs.
Requirements:
  • 5 years or more of experience in construction management.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in mechanical construction.
  • Project planning and implementation experience.
  • Project coordination experience.
  • Specialization in mechanical components or mechanical engineering technology.
