The Pierside Restaurant is seeking a dedicated Specialty Foods Chef to enhance our culinary offerings. This permanent role involves working 30 to 40 hours per week in a dynamic environment.
Work EnvironmentThe position is set in a fast-paced restaurant atmosphere, which may include exposure to noisy conditions, odours, and varying temperatures including hot and cold/refrigerated settings.
Responsibilities- Showcase innovative cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff.
- Develop and test new recipes.
- Guide cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of dishes.
- Prepare and serve complete meals and specialty foods for events.
- Oversee kitchen staff and ensure high standards of food quality.
- Regularly prepare meals or specialty dishes for various occasions.
- Manage inventory and requisition food and kitchen supplies.
- Coordinate equipment purchases and maintenance.
- Design menus that meet quality standards and customer preferences.
- Prepare dishes accommodating food allergies or dietary restrictions.
- Supervise sous-chefs and other kitchen personnel.
- Train staff in food preparation and safety protocols.
Responsible for supervising a team of 3-4 kitchen staff.
Culinary FocusSpecializing in Filipino cuisine, the chef will bring authenticity and creativity to our menu.
Physical DemandsThis role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle heavy loads, and maintain attention to detail while meeting tight deadlines.
Personal AttributesThe ideal candidate will possess qualities such as dependability, excellent communication skills, flexibility, and a strong sense of organization.
Experience RequirementsA minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role is required.
