About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team at Downtownwindsor. As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a critical role in analyzing and verifying loan applications, evaluating risk, and making loan eligibility decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Loan Analysis and Risk Evaluation: Review and underwrite customer loans within prescribed authority level, escalating unusual or complex cases to leadership where appropriate.
  2. Due Diligence and Documentation: Review due diligence documents submitted to validate the borrower's willingness and ability to repay the loan.
  3. Loan Risk Assessment: Analyze loan risk and request additional information as necessary.
  4. Loan Eligibility Decisions: Make loan eligibility decisions and approve or reject applications.
  5. Loan Conditions and Compliance: Review and specify loan conditions as necessary, ensuring deals are underwritten and adhere to internal policy, procedures, guidelines, insurer programs, and regulatory requirements.
  6. Communication and Documentation: Document and efficiently communicate reasons for the approval/rejection of loans.
  7. Appraisal and Site Inspection Review: Review appraisal and/or site inspection reports.
  8. Agent and Broker Management: Manage the relationship with submitting agent/broker source.
  9. Pricing and Profitability Management: Set the pricing and manage the profitability of each transaction.
  10. AML and Fraud Risk Management: Identify and assess AML and fraud risks.
  11. Pipeline Management and Production Goals: Manage pipeline and ensure daily production goals are met.
  12. Mentorship and Team Collaboration: Mentor team members and share best practices.
  13. Complex Deal Management and Escalation Support: Handle complex deals and support team with escalated issues.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5 years of experience underwriting in residential originations
  • Most recent role being a senior underwriter, or an underwriter with a higher authority level and scope of work
