LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in Toronto, ON. As a key member of our Microbiology Department, you will play a vital role in providing accurate and timely interpretive and diagnostic specimen testing and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and conduct complex microbiological tests and analyses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established standard operating procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor junior laboratory staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and refine laboratory procedures, quality control measures, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret test results and offer expert recommendations.
  • Execute comprehensive verification and validation processes, including the systematic evaluation and assessment of new testing methodologies, equipment, and systems.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to maintenance schedules.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies to ensure the laboratory is adequately stocked.
  • Stay current with advancements in microbiology, new techniques, and technologies into laboratory practices.
Requirements:
  • College diploma or University degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • CMLTO registered.
  • At least 5 years of MLT experience or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people.
  • Good computer skills and knowledge.
  • Problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy, and confidentiality.
