We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join our team at Dexter Construction, a leading construction company within the Municipal Group of Companies. Based in Bedford, Nova Scotia, this role will be part of our Estimating Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex earthwork volumetric calculations to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Develop detailed plans and calculate material takeoffs using Civil 3D software.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other technical documentation to identify project requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Estimating Team to provide support and expertise in CAD design and drafting.
  • Ensure adherence to CAD standards and procedures for all drawings and calculations.
  • Work closely with the team to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the Estimating Department.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Strong understanding of current civil construction methods and techniques.
  • Ability to interpret geotechnical reports and other technical documentation.
  • Previous experience or training in a CAD Technician role, preferably in a survey, highways, mining, or construction background.
  • Post-secondary education with a concentration in surveying or engineering is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
