Canada Skeena Resources Limited Full time

Company Overview: Skeena Resources Limited is a Canadian exploration mining firm dedicated to revitalizing the historically productive Eskay Creek gold-silver mine, alongside other development initiatives within our portfolio, all situated in Tahltan Territory in the Golden Triangle of northwest British Columbia, Canada. The Eskay Creek mine was renowned as the highest-grade gold mine globally during its operational period, yielding 3.3 million ounces of gold and 160 million ounces of silver at remarkable average grades of 45 g/t gold and 2,224 g/t silver.

Position Summary: As a member of Skeena, you will immerse yourself in a vibrant, innovative, and results-oriented workplace. You will encounter tasks that challenge your abilities and expand your expertise, collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Our core values emphasize Health and Safety, Environmental stewardship, and Community engagement, as we work in partnership with Indigenous communities, respecting traditional knowledge and the land. Skeena is at the forefront of promoting reconciliation, diversity, and inclusion within our sector.

Job Title: Lead Project Engineer

Reporting Structure: This role reports directly to the Director of Construction and Engineering at Skeena. The Lead Project Engineer will be instrumental in steering multi-disciplinary engineering, procurement, and construction efforts to support the revitalization of the Eskay Creek project. As the project progresses through Detailed Engineering, the focus will shift to both on-site and off-site infrastructure initiatives that facilitate the EPCM of the new Process Plant and associated facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, assist, and mentor the engineering and procurement consultants, providing continuous guidance and feedback aligned with Skeena's design expectations.
  • Hold the engineering and procurement consultants accountable for their deliverables, ensuring adherence to schedule and budgetary constraints, while driving accountability for earned value key criteria.
  • Provide assistance in design aspects, particularly in earthworks and water/slurry pumping systems, with a foundational understanding of Mechanical and Electrical systems being advantageous.
  • Possess a comprehensive multi-disciplinary knowledge base to guide engineering progress towards the unified goals of Skeena.
  • Collaborate with engineering consultants to ensure that Safety by Design and Constructability & Operability principles are integrated into all facets of the design and operational readiness lifecycle.
  • Ensure that the Procurement and Contract Management processes meet established expectations.
  • Guarantee compliance with industry standards and regulatory mandates.
  • Work closely with environmental teams to ensure water management practices align with environmental regulations and best practices, minimizing the project's ecological footprint.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Civil, Mechanical, or Mining) or an equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) execution is required.
  • Experience in the mining sector is preferred, particularly in a New Build Construction context.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in British Columbia or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and possess exceptional problem-solving and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both collaboratively within a team and independently as required.

Work Environment: This position entails a blend of responsibilities between the corporate office and the Eskay Creek site. The incumbent must be prepared to work away from home periodically and travel to various work locations or events outside of standard office hours, as well as to Skeena's remote project sites, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.
