At BGIS, we are seeking a highly skilled 4th Class Stationary Engineer to join our team as a Roving Operations Specialist. This role will be responsible for performing operational work in a central heating or central heating and cooling plant in the National Capital Area, reporting to a 1st Class Stationary Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate plant equipment and systems on days and/or rotating shifts, observing instruments, gauges, and computerized operating data.
- Start up, shut down, and adjust controls on equipment manually and by computer, complying with regulations and standards.
- Inspect operating conditions and report malfunctions, responding to alarms in operating systems.
- Perform scheduled preventive and in-house maintenance, emergency repair, and overhaul of plant equipment.
- Update shift logs, observe and record instrument, gauge, and meter readings, and prepare reports for management on operational issues or deficiencies.
- Up to 3 years or more at Class 4 level.
- Significant knowledge of the operation of heating and cooling plant equipment and systems, including boilers, chillers, generators, combustion chambers, firing equipment, water pumps, valves, expansion joints, fans, distribution systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Knowledge of testing methods to carry out tests on mechanical equipment and water samples.
- Knowledge of administrative practices to prepare work orders and documents, compile operational data for monthly reports, and write reports with recommendations.
- General knowledge of federal and provincial regulations related to environmental standards and occupational health and safety in plant operations.
As a 4th Class Stationary Engineer at BGIS, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of computer software programs, conduct standardized tests to determine chemical concentrations in water, and use a range of hand and power tools in the work.
