Lead environmental initiatives for a varied client portfolio. Mentor junior and intermediate team members. As a Senior Civil Design Engineer, you will be part of our Eastern Surface Water team. The successful candidate will spearhead and support a range of projects, including feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed designs, construction, and monitoring, spanning multiple disciplines. We seek a proactive individual with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. The successful candidate will engage in water resource-focused projects with the following responsibilities:

Provide engineering oversight for ongoing and expanding projects in the mining and energy sectors related to water resources, ecological restoration, and environmental compliance. Collaborate with private and public sector clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and sub-consultants. Ensure that client objectives and expectations are fulfilled while maintaining project scope, budget, schedule, and technical quality. Develop and nurture client relationships as part of project execution and business development efforts. Manage the design, permitting, and construction of civil and water resources engineering projects, including stormwater management systems, flood mitigation infrastructure, and stream/natural channel rehabilitation. Prepare, review, and oversee the development of technical reports for permitting and approvals, as well as contract documents including cost estimates, tender forms, quantity estimates, and specifications. Lead a multi-disciplinary project team, mentor junior and intermediate staff, and build relationships with other business leaders. Oversee the preparation of proposals, budgets, and work plans. Actively contribute to maintaining a strong safety culture. Play a role in shaping the growth strategy of Montrose Environmental Group.

Qualifications:

Applied engineering experience in the mining and/or energy sectors, delivering design, permitting, and construction of civil and water resources engineering projects. Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering. Licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer in Ontario. A minimum of 12 years of engineering/project management experience, preferably in the consulting sector. In-depth understanding of provincial and federal legislation concerning the water resource sector. Previous experience with AutoCAD and industry-standard water resources modeling software is advantageous. Knowledge of hydrology, open channel, and pipe flow hydraulics. Proven success in preparing project proposals and delivering presentations. A supportive and collaborative team player. Possess a valid Class G driver's license and a clean driving record.
