Clinical Psychology Supervisor - Department of Psychology & Health Studies
Primary Objective: The Department of Psychology and Health Studies is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of mental health professionals through its Clinical Psychology program. As the program expands, we are enhancing our student body, recruiting additional tenure-track faculty, and establishing a new facility for the University of Saskatchewan Psychology Clinic (USPC). This clinic serves as the primary training ground for our clinical students while offering essential services to the local community. The USPC is committed to providing accessible mental health services, welcoming self-referrals and client referrals, and ensuring low-barrier access through affordable fee structures. We embrace diversity in all forms, including race, culture, religion, socio-economic status, abilities, sexuality, gender identity, and family structures, and we are proud to be 2SLGBTQ friendly.
The Clinical Psychology Supervisor will be stationed at the USPC and will primarily focus on two key areas: 1) supervising and training clinical psychology students, and 2) delivering direct psychological services to clients. Established in 1971, our clinical psychology program has maintained continuous accreditation by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) since 1990, providing comprehensive generalist training that allows for specialization at the post-doctoral level.
Nature of Responsibilities: The main responsibility of the Clinical Psychology Supervisor will be to support the program in fulfilling its objectives, which are significantly shaped by CPA accreditation standards. This role will primarily involve serving as a clinical supervisor for student placements. Additionally, the supervisor may oversee clinical components of assessment and intervention courses and provide guidance to junior faculty during their provisional registration. Direct client services will also be part of the role. The supervisor will contribute to enhancing the visibility of the training clinic, generating referrals, and ensuring the program meets CPA accreditation standards. We are particularly interested in candidates with a focus on assessment practices, especially those involving children and adolescents.
This is a full-time position (hours per week) governed by the collective agreement between the University of Saskatchewan and the Administrative and Supervisory Personnel Association (ASPA). While full-time employment is preferred, part-time arrangements may be considered if necessary.
The position includes a comprehensive benefits package encompassing dental, health, vision, pension, life insurance, disability, sick leave, an employee assistance program, a professional development allowance, and a flexible health and wellness spending program. The role starts with four weeks of vacation, in addition to paid days off during holiday periods, and covers professional registration and insurance costs. Benefits will be pro-rated for part-time employees if applicable.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities: The Clinical Psychology Supervisor will report to the Department Head, with the USPC Director acting as the direct supervisor and daily manager. The individual must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, exercise sound judgment, and possess strong communication and management skills.
Within the USPC, this position will focus on:
Providing clinical supervision for student practicum training and formal coursework Delivering direct services to clients Monitoring and assessing student performance Supervising junior faculty prior to their registration Ensuring clinic services comply with provincial and national standards Generating and managing clinic referrals Building and maintaining relationships with external partners, including health regions and insurance providers Maintaining accurate and timely records of clinical service delivery Conducting didactic sessions as part of clinical seminars or, under specific circumstances, teaching formal courseworkEducation: Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from a CPA-accredited program or one accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Preference will be given to those who have completed a CPA or APA accredited predoctoral internship or residency.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Commitment to ethical and professional standards of practice Proficiency in delivering evidence-based psychological services, including supervision, assessment, and intervention Capability to provide clinical supervision to students across a diverse range of populations and presenting issues.
