Our multidisciplinary team of Planners, Engineers, and Contract Administrators is dedicated to providing infrastructure solutions that promote economic development and societal well-being.

We strive to deliver a positive client experience throughout Canada, from project initiation and design to construction completion. Our national HI team, consisting of engineers, technicians, and support staff with varied expertise in design and construction, is committed to providing outstanding technical work and customer service. This team has built a stellar reputation through the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects across the country.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as project manager, structural lead, and designer for engineering tasks.
  • Oversee transportation structural inspections and act as the supervising engineer for biennial inspection assignments.
  • Conduct site visits for pre-design data collection, construction oversight, and post-construction evaluations.
  • Lead inspections of existing bridges, culverts, and other transportation structures in compliance with relevant standards.
  • Coordinate efforts with clients and various disciplines, including highway/road, electrical, drainage, and environmental planning.
  • Analyze and evaluate design solutions for transportation structures, including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and foundations.
  • Guide project team members and support staff through clear verbal and written communication.
  • Direct the CAD team in preparing drawings and reviewing deliverables before client submission.
  • Prepare and assess technical reports, tender documents, and cost estimates.
  • Provide recommendations and cost assessments for maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Conduct tender evaluations and/or provide construction engineering services.
  • Engage in business development activities to secure new projects through client engagement and proposal preparation.
  • Participate in team progress meetings.
  • Be available for flexible working hours, including nights and weekends, and be prepared for travel as required.
  • Complete daily health and safety documentation.
  • Regularly review transportation structure projects to ensure budget, schedule, risk, and cost estimates are accurate.
  • Work within assigned projects and timelines.
Qualifications:
  • BASc or B.Eng. in civil/structural engineering with a strong focus on bridge engineering.
  • P. Eng. designation with over 10 years of experience leading biennial inspections and large transportation structure projects.
  • RAQS eligibility in bridge engineering for biennial inspections.
  • Completion of the MTO Inspectors workshop.
  • Experience as a supervising engineer on OSIM inspection assignments.
  • Familiarity with fatigue inspections.
  • Proficient in proposal and report writing.
  • Knowledge of asset management practices.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Proven ability to analyze, evaluate, rehabilitate, and design bridges and culverts.
  • Willingness to work in both office and field settings.
  • Ability to perform physical outdoor duties during bridge inspections.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with bridge inspection and asset management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation abilities.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment on bridge and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Demonstrated interest in business development and proposal preparation.
  • Proven ability to supervise, direct, and mentor team members.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Able to lead a team and mentor the technical development of others.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
