About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Project Manager to enhance our Project Management team in Ottawa. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive experience across all stages of the project lifecycle, particularly in managing complex initiatives, and will demonstrate a solid understanding of Project Management methodologies. This role involves providing essential support to Senior Project Managers and their respective projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizing and scheduling project activities while collaborating with engineering leads to define project tasks;
- Assisting in work effort estimations and resource allocation;
- Monitoring costs, managing cash flow, and ensuring timely execution of project deliverables;
- Conducting ongoing cost and schedule control activities, including Earned Value Management;
- Overseeing tools for schedule tracking and maintaining Earned Value dashboards;
- Managing contracts and liaising with clients and suppliers;
- Providing project status updates to senior management;
- Facilitating workshops among various engineering disciplines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Software) or equivalent technical experience;
- A minimum of 5 years in a Project Management role;
- At least 3 years of experience in scheduling and task estimation;
- Familiarity with risk management and change management processes;
- Strong teamwork skills, collaborating effectively with customer teams, Project Management colleagues, and external suppliers;
- Proven experience in procurement, financial management, and client relationship management within a project environment;
- Experience in tracking design and engineering progress;
- Adaptability to take on various assignments in changing contractual contexts;
- Experience in Naval Communications and Defence procurement is advantageous;
- Experience with bids and proposals is a plus;
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable;
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management and the ability to translate activities into actionable dashboards and reports;
- Experience with Firm-Fixed Price and Time & Materials contracts;
- A personable demeanor with a problem-solving mindset in a dynamic team setting.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must qualify for and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
- Must meet the criteria for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
