The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Operations and Strategic Initiatives to join our team. This key provincial leadership role will report to the Managing Director Procurement & System Optimization and will be responsible for developing and implementing short and long-term sourcing plans for major procurement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic plans for procurement initiatives, including contracting and operational leadership.
- Provide leadership and guidance to stakeholders in the development and execution of plans.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and address operational challenges and opportunities.
- Lead and participate in the development and implementation of business process improvements.
- Provide consultation services and leadership throughout the organization.
- University degree in Business or Health Services Administration, Public Administration, or related education.
- At least six (6) years of experience in health care procurement and supply chain.
- Experience leading and implementing major projects, including facilitating large group meetings with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of clinical products, market strategies, and understanding of the local, national and global supply chain issues and challenges.
- Experience leading a team/supervising.
- Drive for Results: The ability to assess complexity, understand business needs, and propose innovative options for procurement.
- Systems Thinking: The ability to consider and integrate multiple factors, such as budget/financial planning perspective in contract approval and procurement planning process.
- Creative Problem Solving: The ability to lead on continuous business process improvement to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of business operations.
- Develop Self and Others: The ability to provide constructive and timely feedback to unit staff and support their personal development plans.
