Key Responsibilities:
Leadership Duties:
- Manage the overall functioning of the processing department, making informed decisions and taking appropriate actions.
- Oversee the selection, screening, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding processes for all merchandise team members.
- Educate merchandise team members on sorting, inspecting, grading, and preparing all merchandise, among other essential tasks.
- Actively participate as a key member of the management team by providing support, attending meetings, and sharing pertinent information.
- Guide the merchandise processing team in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Identify and report policy violations to the General Manager and Human Resources. Engage in all performance management discussions.
- Conduct ongoing performance evaluations against established goals.
- Assist in the rollout of employee recognition initiatives and events.
- Ensure that the merchandise department is maintained in an organized and clean manner, adhering to company housekeeping standards.
- Implement precautionary measures and follow company protocols to prevent theft. Take necessary actions when theft occurs.
- Provide a safe working environment by identifying and addressing hazards, and reporting them to the General Manager and Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Manage all workplace incidents, ensuring timely completion and submission of necessary documentation while informing the General Manager and Human Resources.
- Serve as Co-Chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Conduct regular floor inspections to identify priorities and delegate tasks to team members during morning meetings and throughout the day.
- Coordinate the merchandise processing team's efforts to ensure timely delivery of merchandise to the sales floor while maintaining inventory levels.
- Analyze and document daily merchandise processing metrics, including soft and hard pounds received and processed.
- Communicate goals and updates to the merchandise team throughout their shifts.
- Plan, create, and implement weekly schedules for the merchandise department.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of administrative responsibilities.
- Guide the merchandise department in preparing for and executing sale events.
- Maintain professionalism in all communications with peers, managers, customers, and clients.
- Collaborate with store management to ensure that operations and production align toward common objectives, which may involve sharing responsibilities between departments.
- Understand the proper procedures for opening and closing the store.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with POS systems, pricing computers, and other office equipment.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the General Manager.
- 4+ years of experience in a retail warehouse setting.
- 3+ years of managerial experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Experience in a thrift retail setting is considered an asset.
- Health and Safety Focused - Commitment to maintaining health and safety standards in the workplace, understanding Provincial Health and Safety guidelines.

- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.
- Capable of lifting and carrying items up to 50 lbs without assistance throughout the shift.
- Able to push and pull merchandise containers on wheels weighing up to 500 lbs.
- Exposure to dust throughout the designated shift.
- Experience with occasional temperature fluctuations and varying noise levels.
- Work schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Engagement with customers, clients, and the general public.
