Job Summary
As a Security Officer at Great Canadian Entertainment, you will play a vital role in protecting our assets and ensuring the safety of our guests and team members. This position requires a unique blend of security expertise, customer service skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and document internal and external violations, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards, preparing written and electronic statements as needed.
- Enforce restricted access by unauthorized persons and observe transactions, slot drops, and chip fills to prevent theft and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Perform identification checks on guests under 30 and refer disputes to the Supervisor, Security.
- Conduct regular patrols of the interior and exterior of the property, escorting guests and team members as needed.
- Perform crowd control as directed and attend to first aid incidents.
- Assist the Supervisor, Security with enrolling guests in the Self-Exclusion program and ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and other statutory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education an asset.
- Two (2) years of experience working with the public in a service role or in the service industry.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
- Previous experience or training in security an asset.
- Occupational First Aid Level 2 considered an asset.
- Serving it Right Certification.
- Inquisitive, investigative mind, able to identify suspicious behaviors/transactions and make sound judgments based on this.
- A willingness to learn, develop, and achieve new skills for personal and professional development.
- Computer literacy in MS Office.
- Able to organize data with great accuracy.
- Knowledge of privacy legislation an asset.
- Self-motivator and ability to inspire other team members in enhancing the guest experience within the entertainment business.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Ability to follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures at all times.
- Must be able to work independently, without close direct supervision, and apply good judgment and discretion under pressure.
- Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License.
Work Environment Considerations
- Regular casino/Racing environment, standing and walking for long periods of time, and non-traditional work hours.
