Annual Plant Buyer Opportunity

GARDENWORKS Ltd. is a leading garden centre company with a passion for connecting people to the natural world through plants.

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as an Annual Plant Buyer. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and curating a timely assortment of annual plants that meets or exceeds sales volume, manages quick inventory turns, and achieves target gross profit margins.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building sales and supporting the GARDENWORKS brand by providing outstanding service to customers
  • Sharing knowledge of plant care and maintenance with customers to inform and assist them
  • Main buyer for the annual plant category, ensuring buying direction is on target based on analysis of sales and customer trends
  • Analyzing weekly and monthly sales, current inventory, and on-order to optimize sales and inventory management
  • Developing and maintaining optimal vendor relations to secure the best prices, quality, and service levels
  • Receiving and inspecting plant material, ensuring it is priced and in good health
  • Collaborating with the store merchandising team to create visually appealing displays that inspire customers
  • Bolstering a positive and fun work environment where team members can be proud of their work and recognized for their contributions

Requirements:

  • Strong passion for providing an exceptional customer experience
  • Personal knowledge and passion for the horticulture industry, with a good understanding of sourcing and buying live plants
  • 3+ years of customer service experience, preferably in a retail setting
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and our POS system for sales reporting
  • Exceptional time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage projects and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays, as seasonal peaks require
  • This role requires extended periods of walking and standing, as well as the ability to lift 50lbs and work in various weather conditions and environments
  • You will thrive in a team environment, as well as work independently
