Student Financial Services Advisor

Job Summary

The Glendon Student Financial Services Advisor plays a vital role in ensuring that students at York University's Glendon campus have access to the financial support they need to succeed. This position requires a high level of expertise in financial aid, student accounts, and financial literacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and process government financial aid and university award applications in compliance with regulations and guidelines.
  • Resolve inconsistencies in students' accounts, handle appeals and reviews, and process and issue funds.
  • Assess students' financial eligibility to continue their studies and work collaboratively with the Manager, Glendon SFS to develop outreach materials.
  • Administer Glendon awards and participate in evaluation activities related to strategic enrolment management.
Requirements
  • One to two years of recent experience in a bilingual post-secondary institution, preferably in a high-volume student service area.
  • Experience providing complex information to others, presenting information to groups and individuals, advising students, and answering detailed inquiries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Bilingualism in English and French, with a minimum of Bilingual Module I (Advanced) and IV (Advanced).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a financial setting and familiarity with OSAP, Prêt et bourses de Quebec, and other loan programs.
  • Knowledge of cashiering functions and online records systems such as SIS/STAC/PES and OSAP databank.
