Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Assisted Living Services Assistant to join our team at Senior Persons Living Connected. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the provision of Assisted Living Services to older adult clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling and Staff Support
    • Schedule Personal Support Workers on a weekly basis for personal care, medication reminders, homemaking, safety reassurance service, and ensure client service and safety needs are met.
    • Schedule replacement PSWs for staff who are absent or on leave.
    • Assist in orienting staff, providing training, monitoring attendance, and providing field support.
  • Client Support
    • Contact clients for scheduling changes and service discussions.
    • Prepare and explain service tables to clients/caregivers and collect their consent.
    • Follow up with clients' concerns/issues under the guidance of the Assisted Living Manager.
    • Support clients' assessments under the guidance of the Assisted Living Services Manager.
  • Administrative Support
    • Update clients' files in Alayacare (electronic record) as required by the Manager.
    • Collect and submit PSWs' time sheets and input data in the payroll system for approval.
    • Provide clerical support and assist in preparing statistical reports.
    • Keep records and inventory of PPE and other necessary supplies, and assist in supplies ordering or purchasing.
  • Quality Improvement
    • Participate in planning and follow-up sessions for establishing long- and short-term goals.
    • Perform work safely according to departmental and organizational procedures and policies, and ensure the safety of self and others.
    • Assist in promoting the Assisted Living Services at Senior Persons Living Connected.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or Certificate from a recognized college related to social services or healthcare or gerontology.
  • Two to Three (2-3) years' experience working with seniors in a community setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision-making, and assessment skills, and ability to handle crisis situations.
  • Experience scheduling staff is an asset.
  • Experience working with frail or cognitively impaired seniors.
  • Fluency in a second language such as Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset.
  • Ability to be adaptable in a frequently changing work environment.
  • Excellent computer knowledge and skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions
  • Required to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • May be exposed to contagious diseases.
  • Frequent phone calls and interruptions.
  • Frequently having to schedule and re-schedule staff in short periods of time.
  • Required to work at different sites.
  • Required to conduct home visits with clients and caregivers; working alone in the home.
Other Requirements
  • Vulnerable Sector screening required.
  • Proof of full COVID-19 Vaccination.
