Position Overview:
As a key member of our Engineering team at FortisBC, you will play a vital role in the management and operation of our electrical substations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Utilize advanced engineering principles to ensure the safe, timely, and cost-effective functioning of electrical substations.
2. Generate maintenance cost estimates and forecast spare parts requirements.
3. Prepare comprehensive commissioning packages to support capital projects.
4. Engage in engineering investigations to troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges.
5. Provide expert engineering services related to substation design and equipment specifications.
6. Develop a deep understanding of low, medium, and high voltage utility equipment, including its functions and diagnostic testing.
7. Gain field experience to enhance understanding of FortisBC's operations.
8. Build a robust knowledge base for condition-based maintenance of equipment.
9. Exercise sound engineering judgment to identify reliable and economical solutions.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 2 to 7 years of relevant experience in electrical substation engineering.
- Eligibility for Professional Engineering status with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
- Strong knowledge of transmission, distribution, and station components within an electrical utility context.
- Preference for candidates with field experience in equipment testing and commissioning.
- General understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering and construction principles.
- Ability to develop computer models for equipment validation and reliability.
- Familiarity with programming is a plus.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures.
- Proficiency in commonly used software such as MS Office, MS Project, and SharePoint.
- Strong decision-making skills, accountability, and customer focus.
- Ability to foster relationships through respect, integrity, and teamwork.
