About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Installation Specialist to join our team at Square Mile Development Inc. as a key member of our construction crew.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to ensure a smooth finish.
  • Install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners and fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces, measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets, and position and secure them to metal or wooden studs or joists.
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound to create a seamless finish.
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coats to dry, ensuring a professional finish.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Work in a fast-paced construction environment, requiring physical stamina and ability to lift heavy loads.
  • Perform tasks that involve bending, crouching, and kneeling, and work at heights.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Participate in a government or community program that supports newcomers and refugees, assisting with their immediate settlement needs.
  • Support social and labour market integration by facilitating access to community resources, language training, and skills training.
  • Recruit and support newcomers and refugees who were displaced by a conflict or natural disaster.
  • Provide mentorship programs and diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in drywall installation.

  • Work Term: Permanent.
  • Work Language: English.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week.
