Reporting directly to the Vice-President of Investments, the Performance and Treasury Analyst will be integral to performance analytics, risk assessment, treasury operations, and investment portfolio evaluation across diverse asset classes.

Location: Montreal, Quebec
Work Schedule: Permanent, Full-time, hybrid model with office presence required 3 days a week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | THE ROLE

Performance and Risk Management

  • Assist in calculating returns, attributing performance, and generating comprehensive reports on investment outcomes.
  • Develop timely investment insights for monthly and quarterly performance assessment reports across various asset classes.
  • Conduct portfolio positioning analyses to extract insights and enhance investment strategies.
  • Evaluate the risk associated with potential investments and relay findings to the investment team.
  • Engage in the creation and enhancement of performance measurement tools.
  • Validate the accuracy and completeness of data utilized for performance calculations and benchmarks.
  • Undertake special projects as required by the Investment and Middle Office teams.

Treasury Management

  • Work alongside the Investment Treasurer to manage daily cash flow, financing operations, cash forecasting, and cash positioning reports.
  • Oversee liquidity management for new investments, capital calls, and investment distribution receipts.
  • Facilitate the trade settlement process and manage related cash transactions for equities, currencies, and derivatives.

QUALIFICATIONS | THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • A Bachelor's degree in finance, mathematics, actuarial science, or a related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in consulting, asset management, investment analytics, performance and risk, or related fields.
  • Progress towards or completion of a professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM, CIPM) is advantageous.
  • A solid understanding of financial markets, investment vehicles, and various asset classes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with performance measurement and attribution methodologies.
  • A proactive and independent work ethic.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and efficiency.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A commitment to high-quality standards and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities.
