The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in the planning, execution, and successful delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within financial constraints, and according to specified standards. This position involves defining project requirements, acquiring necessary resources, and supporting the project team effectively. Key responsibilities include:
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop project schedules and facilitate handovers for awarded contracts, assisting with subcontractor oversight and site coordination.
- Establish comprehensive project timelines, milestones, and requirements utilizing appropriate project management tools.
- Oversee the entire project life cycle, from initial planning and bidding through to project completion.
- Assist with daily operational tasks both in the office and on-site.
- Actively engage in safety initiatives and foster a culture of safety within the organization.
- Support the implementation of process enhancements to improve project delivery.
- Monitor project progress and manage costs to ensure projects remain within budget.
- Assist with job costing and updating quantities for payment processes.
- Interpret blueprints to accurately estimate project costs.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and trades to discuss various estimates related to construction projects.
- Communicate effectively with departmental leaders to align on construction needs, budgeting, and bid evaluations.
- Perform any additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related Construction Management program is preferred.
- Experience in Heavy Civil Construction is advantageous.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a construction team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Professional demeanor, punctuality, assertiveness, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of independent judgment and reasoning abilities.
- Capacity to maintain composure in high-pressure situations while demonstrating urgency.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support various projects.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
Working Environment:
The Project Coordinator may be required to work extended hours in an office setting and utilize a computer. Fieldwork and site visits will be frequent, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, steel-toed boots, and reflective vests. Additional PPE may be required based on site conditions. Travel may also be necessary to represent the organization or specific projects.
