Fleming College is seeking a highly skilled Research Technologist to join our team at the Centre for Advancement of Water and Wastewater Technologies (CAWT). As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for installing, decommissioning, and operating a wide range of experiments, technologies, and laboratory instruments.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and execute research projects by following project outlines and test plans, adhering to standard methods and procedures.
- Conduct laboratory analyses for water and wastewater treatment research, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Develop and validate laboratory methods and procedures, including creating standard operating procedures, work instructions, and health and safety protocols.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and infrastructure, troubleshooting and repairing as needed.
- Coordinate with external parties, including vendors and manufacturers, for services, repairs, and quotes.
- Organize the work of laboratory technicians, students, and others to meet project deliverables.
- Ensure safe, accurate, and effective use of facilities, equipment, and instrumentation, adhering to health and safety procedures.
- Minimum 3-year degree in a related field, such as Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Toxicology, or a similar science-related discipline.
- Up to three years of related work experience, including analytical methods and instrumentation, working knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques, and experience with research projects.
- Strong interpersonal, planning, time management, and communication skills.
- Practical experience in organizational techniques and inventory control.
- Intermediate skills with software programs, including spreadsheets and word processing.
- Valid Class G driver's license.
