Emil Anderson Maintenance Co. Ltd (EAM) serves as the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure's contractor for the maintenance of roads and bridges across various service areas.
EAM is responsible for comprehensive highway and bridge upkeep, which encompasses a variety of tasks such as vegetation management, drainage maintenance, signage repairs, pavement restoration, concrete and timber bridge maintenance, gravel grading, anti-icing, snow removal, and emergency response operations. Our dedicated management team and field crews are committed to ensuring safe travel conditions for the public.
We are currently looking for a Road Superintendent to oversee our operations. Position Overview:
The Road Superintendent is responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising highway maintenance operations, ensuring adherence to the MoTI Contract and the EAM Quality Management System.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate in alignment with Emil Anderson Group (EAG) Core Values in all work-related activities.
- Maintain a strong commitment to fostering a zero-injury culture and achieving safety goals.
- Plan, schedule, and supervise highway maintenance tasks using available resources efficiently.
- Estimate, schedule, and oversee additional projects assigned by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
- Coordinate complex work assignments and manage annual work schedules and road inspections.
- Supervise work crews and assess individual performance.
- Ensure compliance with MOTI standards, the Quality Management System, and all safety regulations.
- Verify the accuracy of work reports, including accomplishments, manpower, equipment, and material usage.
- Facilitate relevant EAM training programs.
- Address public and stakeholder inquiries and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Respond to emergencies involving traffic and road closures as required.
- Ensure processes align with quality objectives and support continuous improvement.
- Assist the Operations Manager and Quality Manager with annual road and infrastructure assessments.
- Oversee the maintenance and servicing of equipment to extend its lifespan.
Additional Expectations:
- Lead by example and actively contribute to departmental and company objectives.
- Clarify expectations and foster effective communication with supervisors and crews.
- Seek additional training opportunities as necessary.
- Ensure alignment of processes with quality objectives.
- Monitor current quality levels against target levels.
- Develop and achieve departmental and company goals.
- Propose improvements in cost reduction, processes, quality, and productivity.
- Join the Operations Management Team for support during emergencies or special requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction sector.
- At least 3 years in a management role.
- 2 years of experience managing in a unionized setting.
- Local candidates or those willing to relocate are preferred.
- Experience with MOTI Highway Maintenance is advantageous.
- Degree in Engineering or Management is a plus.
- Class 3 license with Air Brakes endorsement is required.
The salary range for this position will be discussed during the interview process, considering the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
