Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communications Director to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our Communications and Public Affairs team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic communication plans to support our organization's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation and strategic counsel to internal stakeholders, including Executive Directors, Medical Directors, and other Fraser Health leaders, on communication strategies and plans.
  • Develop and implement communication plans to engage internal and external audiences, including employees, physicians, volunteers, patients, and the community.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Communications and Public Affairs team to promote a positive corporate image and organizational strategies in health service delivery.
  • Develop and recommend strategic communications and promotional plans for Fraser Health-wide and local programs, based on effective situational analyses.
  • Manage projects on budget and on deadline, and ensure overall quality, consistency, and effectiveness of communication materials.
  • Provide supervision and work direction to assigned staff, including selection, hiring, orientation, performance management, and termination processes.
  • Coordinate and evaluate external and internal suppliers involved in communications-related projects, including writing, language translation, graphic design, web design, printing, photography, video production, signage, and site maps.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline, supplemented by five to seven years of recent related experience in a communications or public affairs role in a large public sector, health care, or similarly complex organization.
  • Sound knowledge, understanding, and application of communications concepts, strategies, and technical skills required in the planning, execution, and evaluation of communications plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic counsel to others, plan and write a broad range of copy in a variety of media, and manage projects on budget and on deadline.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, and to develop and maintain rapport and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
