Custodian Part-Time Position

Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of all parish facilities, including the Church, Parish Hall, and grounds. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain all areas of the Church, including the Sanctuary, Family Room, Adoration Chapel, and Sacristy
  • Restock supplies in the restrooms and clean the Parish Hall after events
  • Assure all buildings are secured before leaving at the end of the shift
  • Keep parish grounds clean and safe
  • Work schedule includes Sundays, some Saturdays, and holiday or evening hours depending on event schedule
  • Accept requests from various department personnel for any services needed
  • Inform management of any low or depleted supplies needing to be re-ordered

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with past custodial work or building maintenance preferred but not required
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with all parish priests, staff members, parishioners, and visitors
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality in interacting with parishioners, staff, vendors, technicians, and others

Working Conditions

  • Required to lift or carry furniture, equipment, and supplies
  • Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger
  • Required to perform strenuous walking, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing, climbing, twisting, grasping, and reaching overhead
  • Required to hear, see, and speak on a daily basis
  • Required to work with chemicals, exposure to dust, and slippery and uneven walking surfaces
  • Required to work in various climate conditions
