The Canadian Red Cross (CRC) is seeking an Advanced Medical Equipment Technician to support the British Columbia Medical Equipment Loan Program (HELP) team.

We are currently in search of a specialized Medical Equipment Technician to become part of the HELP program team in British Columbia. The chosen candidate will provide support to volunteers, manage the reprocessing, inspection, and distribution of medical equipment, including mobility aids and bath aids, across various HELP program facilities. Furthermore, they will be responsible for delivering and installing specialized medical equipment for program participants.
Key Responsibilities
Clean and sanitize medical equipment in accordance with established protocols. Repair malfunctioning equipment following manufacturer specifications. Maintain accurate records of repairs and update the inventory management system. Transport equipment between HELP program facilities and install or retrieve equipment at participants' residences as per procedures. Offer guidance to participants and their caregivers regarding the use and upkeep of equipment.Ideal Candidate Profile
High school diploma along with post-secondary education in a relevant discipline. At least two years of experience working with basic manual and electrical tools or a comparable combination of education and experience. Capability to lift weights up to 36 kg (80 lb). Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills (experience in medical equipment repair is advantageous). Excellent verbal communication, customer service, and teamwork abilities. Experience in driving and commercial deliveries. Completed CPR or first aid training within the last two years, or willingness to attend during the probationary period. Experience working with volunteers and diverse communities.Working Conditions
35-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with duties performed in program facilities, participant homes, and senior living residences. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and safely operate a vehicle for equipment delivery, which may account for up to 75% of the workday. Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license in British Columbia. May be required to work from various HELP program service points. Canadian work eligibility is mandatory.
