Job Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a skilled Arts Instructor to join our team in the Community Recreation & Cultural Programs department. As an Arts Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and evaluating creative children's introductory to intermediate instructional programs in theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, and multi-media arts.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and evaluate creative children's introductory to intermediate instructional programs in theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, and multi-media arts.
  • Develop and implement arts programs that meet the needs of diverse age groups and learning abilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a vibrant and inclusive arts environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.
Requirements
  • Completion of 2 years of university/college in Fine Arts or Art History, and/or Education in one or more of the following arts disciplines: theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, or multi-media arts or equivalent years of arts experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing and/or teaching in a related arts discipline.
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates.
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
  • High Five training courses.
