Quality Assurance Technician in Food Safety

Position Overview:
As an integral part of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) team, the FSQA Technician dedicates a significant portion of their time on the production floor to oversee Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and various Quality Assurance Program requirements to ensure compliance and excellence. The Technician operates with urgency, taking immediate corrective actions when necessary and escalating any FSQA issues as appropriate. Comfort in respectfully challenging practices in a dynamic food manufacturing setting is essential.Daily Responsibilities:
Execute and/or assist in daily quality and food safety decision-making based on established protocols to ensure products align with the quality standards and food safety expectations of Maple Leaf Foods and its clientele. Conduct daily monitoring and verification tasks as specified in the HACCP framework and propose corrective measures for any deviations. Offer guidance and support to team members and production leadership to uphold and enhance facility QA practices and procedures. Prepare sensory samples and engage in sensory assessments. Perform data entry and analysis tasks. Conduct microbiological and analytical sampling for products and the environment as required. Participate in initiatives and meetings aimed at enhancing food safety and quality. Assist in implementing changes that improve QA systems and/or programs. Carry out product audits. Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications:
A university degree or college diploma in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 1 to 2 years of experience in a technical capacity within a food manufacturing environment. Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make informed recommendations. Strong interpersonal skills. Effective verbal and written communication abilities. Proficient in systems skills, including MS Office. Excellent organizational and planning capabilities with a keen attention to detail. A willingness to learn and mentor others.
