Job Title: English Language Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled English Language Instructor to join our team at the British Council in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English language teaching to students of various ages and levels. They will also contribute to the development of English language courses, materials, and related services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver English language lessons that meet the needs of different customer groups
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to help manage their performance
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials, and related services
  • Ensure teaching meets Teaching Excellence Standards and reflects the British Council Statement of Approach
  • Use technology during lessons when required
  • Perform administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner
  • Contribute to the development of lasting, mutually beneficial relationships by enhancing students' understanding of the contemporary UK
  • Assist in covering classes for colleagues
  • Engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning

Requirements:

  • Cambridge CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL or recognised equivalent qualification
  • High proficiency in English (CEFR C2)
  • Undergraduate/University degree
  • Experience in teaching adults (400+ hours)
  • Comfortable and willing to teach across different age groups
  • Proven experience teaching online
  • Willing to teach both online and face-to-face
  • Willing to teach evenings and possibly weekends

Working Conditions:

The successful applicant will be self-employed and will be required to work in a fast-paced environment. They will be expected to maintain high standards of teaching and customer service.
