Role Overview
The Site Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in safeguarding and enhancing Teck's reputation and financial interests through the effective management of Legacy Properties. This position is crucial for developing and executing a comprehensive closure plan for the Tulsequah Chief site, which will yield significant environmental and community benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement annual work programs and closure improvement plans, ensuring safety and environmental protection.
- Provide strategic leadership for site investigations, technical studies, and closure planning, maintaining rigorous engineering standards.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Advisor, Closure, to execute technical studies that inform closure options.
- Build and lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring clear direction and effective communication.
- Engage with internal subject matter experts to leverage resources across various fields.
- Make informed decisions to mitigate risks and manage costs effectively, maintaining proactive communication with senior leadership.
- Prepare and oversee project documentation, including schedules, reports, and risk assessments.
- Manage all aspects of contract preparation and contractor oversight, ensuring outcomes align with project goals.
- Foster strong relationships with Indigenous communities and other stakeholders, ensuring commitments to capacity building and business opportunities are met.
- Support regulatory engagement and compliance with permitting requirements.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in project or mine site management, particularly in environmental or engineering fields.
- Degree in Environmental, Mining, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Certification in BC Mines Supervisor is required; BC Shift Boss certification is an asset.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in managing diverse teams.
