The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Relief Shelter Support Worker to provide a safe and secure environment for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Admit, orient, and evaluate guests to ensure a smooth and respectful experience.
  • Conduct internal and external security checks to maintain a secure environment.
  • Demonstrate empathy and respect for all guests, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Monitor guest activities and provide support as needed.
  • Record day-to-day happenings accurately and maintain confidentiality.
  • Liaise with referral sources and external agencies to ensure seamless communication.
  • Coordinate guest care related to security issues and enforce policies consistently.
  • Perform other assigned duties to ensure a safe and secure environment.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Strong service ethic and friendly disposition with the public.
  • Adaptability to change and frequent interruptions.
  • Team-oriented and able to take initiative.
  • Minimum on-call availability required.
  • Willingness to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Criminal Record Check.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Training an asset.
  • Computer ability.
Preferred Skills/ Capabilities:

Successful candidates may be required to provide background check consent, clear vulnerable sector screening, clean drivers abstract, and completion of online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
