Position Overview

Role Summary

What does this role entail?

As a key contributor to the RBC Family Office Services team, the Financial Planning Specialist collaborates with advisors to create tailored financial strategies for High Net Worth (HNW) clients within RBC Wealth Management. Your expertise will also support business growth, identifying opportunities, and driving revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop detailed financial strategies that align with the unique requirements of clients, covering areas such as investment, retirement, tax, risk management, and estate planning.
  2. Customize each financial strategy to address specific client concerns, including holding companies, employee stock options, individual pension plans, retirement compensation agreements, and charitable planning.
  3. Simplify intricate strategies to aid advisors in client discussions.
  4. Collaborate with the Financial Planning Analyst team to prepare comprehensive financial plans.
  5. Foster a work environment that encourages innovation, creativity, teamwork, and diversity.
  6. Build and maintain strong internal and external networks and referral sources.

Qualifications for Success

Essential Requirements

  1. A minimum of five years of experience in tax planning for high net worth individuals.
  2. Five years of relevant experience in various aspects of financial planning.
  3. Possession of one or more professional designations in Accounting: CA/CMA/CGA/CPA.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial planning software such as Conquest or Naviplan.
  7. Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of the investment and insurance sectors is a valuable asset.
  2. Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation (or Financial Planner (F. Pl.) designation for Quebec).
