Job Summary

Canada Post is seeking a reliable and organized individual to join our team as a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier. As a Relief Mail Carrier, you will be responsible for delivering mail and packages to various communities in a flexible and dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver mail and packages to customers in a timely and efficient manner
  • Operate a vehicle in various weather conditions and road types
  • Interact with customers in a positive and courteous manner
  • Sort, collect, and distribute mail and packages in a secure and timely manner
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of local infrastructure, including roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
  • Treat various products and services, including change of address, damaged mail, and bills
  • Wear Canada Post identification and ensure its visibility while delivering and collecting mail and packages
  • Lift and transport articles up to 50 pounds
  • Have experience in deliveries and using a vehicle in various weather and road conditions

Requirements

  • Have a safe driving record
  • Hold a valid provincial permanent driver's license - Class 5 or G
  • Have a minimum cargo space of 50 cubic feet
  • Have an automatic transmission
  • Have electric windows
  • Have a metal roof and an additional power outlet to install a Canada Post panel and a flashing light
  • Have a passenger window with a midpoint between 38 and 45 inches from the floor and a maximum interior width of 56 inches
  • Have a fifth door or hatch to load oversized and bulky items (preferably)
  • Provide and maintain the required automobile liability insurance
  • Notify your insurance company of the use of your vehicle for employment with Canada Post
  • Have a safe driving record
  • Hold a valid provincial permanent driver's license - Class 5 or G
