About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Communications Advisor to join our Public & Government Relations Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective internal and external communications strategies to promote our organization's initiatives and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute communication plans to engage internal and external stakeholders, including media, community groups, and employees.
- Conduct research and analyze data to inform communication strategies and tactics.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and the strategic communications team to develop communication products, including content for digital channels, speaking remarks, news releases, and video scripts.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and teams to ensure communication product development is accurate and consistent with our organization's branding and priorities.
- Monitor brand reputation and discussions relating to our organization in mainstream and social media, and advise on appropriate response or strategies.
- Understand audience reach and value of different social media platforms, and develop relevant content ensuring communications products consider and are inclusive to internal and/or public sentiment.
- Support positive brand awareness through development of communication products that promote our organization's initiatives, members, and community.
- Provide overarching communications support to the public affairs team on strategies and projects.
- Monitor media analytics and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Proactively identify potential issues and risks and advise on mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Digital Marketing, Journalism, English, or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years experience in Journalism, Media and Public Relations or Communications.
- Advanced research, writing, and editing skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of various social media platforms, ability to interpret analytics from social media platforms.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft 365 and other workflow/management software.
- Demonstrated organizational and project management skills.
- Demonstrated oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a cooperative environment to gather information from across the organization and generate communications.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.

We offer a highly competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $58,447.00 – $91,673.00 per annum, and a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance, and the OMERS Pension Plan effective upon hire.
