Position Overview:

The Senior IT Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in gathering and managing requirements for Telesat's business systems. This position involves close collaboration with business leaders, project managers, technical leads, vendor architects, and subject matter experts to define and oversee both functional and non-functional requirements across various software systems within the organization.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collect and evaluate business requirements from diverse stakeholders, including management, users, and IT teams.
  • Document and analyze business processes, workflows, and system requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement effective information systems solutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to assess potential solutions and recommend optimal strategies.
  • Define and document system specifications, encompassing user interface requirements, data models, and functional specifications.
  • Assist or lead the development and execution of test plans to ensure the quality and accuracy of implemented solutions.
  • Provide training and support to end-users to facilitate successful adoption and optimal use of implemented systems.
  • Monitor system performance and perform regular reviews to identify areas for enhancement and optimization.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and technological advancements to propose innovative solutions that improve business processes.
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery.

Education & Experience Required:

  • Over 9 years of experience in a similar capacity.
  • Extensive experience in supporting or leading the design, development, testing, and implementation within the Telecom BSS domain.
  • Proficient in using Jira, Confluence, and MS Office tools.
  • Familiarity with Netcracker or enterprise BSS software is advantageous.
  • Experience working within cross-functional technical teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with clients, internal and external stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Able to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in small, high-performing teams.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Exhibit a flexible, open-minded attitude and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in leading meetings and facilitating group consensus.
  • Background as a business analyst or agile product owner for large-scale enterprise application development and/or customer web application development.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is a plus.

Decision Making & Supervision:

  • Operate with minimal supervision.
  • Make informed decisions and recommendations that require analysis and interpretation within established guidelines.

Working Conditions:

  • Generally comfortable working environment.
  • Moderate visual concentration required for video display terminal use.
  • Willingness to accept minimal travel for national and international engagements.
  • Occasional overtime may be necessary.
