Job Summary

Slegg Building Materials is seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our team in Cumberland. As a key member of our warehouse team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient movement and storage of building materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move materials around the warehouse
  • Inspect equipment daily to ensure safe operation and complete required maintenance forms
  • Build orders to required specifications for delivery, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  • Load and unload building materials in a safe and efficient manner
  • Check load contents for accuracy and secure materials
  • Ensure that all products are shipped on schedule and according to specific instructions
  • Maintain contact with supervisor(s) and work to resolve issues as they arise
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Proven experience in forklift operation and warehouse logistics
  • Effective communication skills and ability to read and speak English
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and hand tool skills
  • Physical requirements include: ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs, sitting and driving for long periods, frequently climbing up and down stairs, pulling, pushing, bending and torso twisting movements
  • A positive can-do attitude and commitment to safety
