Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Officer to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our Health Promotion & Protection Services, you will play a vital role in promoting and maintaining a high standard of public health and environmental conditions in Delta, BC.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Investigate complaints related to public health and environmental control matters, and take necessary actions to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  2. Conduct inspections of various types of facilities, including food processing and handling establishments, businesses, and residential care facilities, to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  3. Perform epidemiological investigations into foodborne illness outbreaks, communicable diseases, and other public health concerns.
  4. Develop and implement education and outreach programs to promote healthy behaviors and practices among the public.
  5. Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to achieve shared goals and objectives.
  6. Stay up-to-date with the latest research, policies, and regulations related to environmental health and public health.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Technology in Environmental Health degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) granted by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI).
  • Valid BC Class V Driver's License and possession of a personal vehicle.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
