Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the assembly of construction and forestry equipment in a workshop setting.
    • Install hydraulic valves and manage hydraulic line routing.
    • Assemble components through bolting and pinning connections, including transmissions, tires, axles, large weldments, cylinders, cabs, and grapples.
    • Route and install electrical harnesses.
    • Conduct quality checks and tests on the final product.
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to establish work procedures.
  • Utilize relevant instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems.
  • Document all machine information, actions taken, and time spent accurately on work orders.
  • Continuously evaluate assembly task hazards to ensure safe work practices and compliance with accepted standards.
  • Employ computer applications and information systems (e.g., John Deere Service Advisor) for documenting maintenance, inspections, and diagnostics.
  • Perform road tests on equipment and verify attachment operations as necessary.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Apprentices and non-certified technicians with relevant industry experience will be highly regarded.
  • Certification as a Journeyperson in the Heavy-Duty Truck and/or Equipment technician trade or an equivalent recognized trade is considered an asset.
  • Prior mechanical experience in a heavy equipment setting is advantageous.
  • Experience in electrical diagnosis and troubleshooting is beneficial.
  • Effective communication skills in a workshop environment are essential.
  • A commitment to manufacturing excellence is required.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including climbing, overhead lifting, prolonged standing, sensory processing, and fine motor control.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds is necessary.
