Facility Details: Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital
The Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) is the largest diagnostic and acute care facility in the West Kootenays, featuring 75 beds and serving a population of 80,000. KBRH provides essential specialist services, including 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and various surgical and medical specialties.
We are seeking Family Practitioners to join our team, specifically in the GP Oncology Program. The selected physician will work alongside experienced professionals to deliver comprehensive cancer care to patients with diverse tumor types. Responsibilities will encompass treatment supervision, patient education, supportive care, and palliative care planning.
This role is both rewarding and impactful, with no on-call duties or evening work required. Previous oncology experience is not necessary, as the department will provide support and training to develop the necessary skills.
GP Oncology Training Details: The mandatory GP oncology training consists of an 8-week program, including 4 weeks of online learning and 6 weeks of hands-on training with the BC Cancer Agency.

Compensation and Benefits- Compensation Structure: Clinical Service Contract
- Estimated Earnings: Competitive
- Physician Overhead: No overhead costs
- Potential for additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including:
- Retention Premium: 11.48%
- Retention Flat Fee: $17,791
- Relocation Assistance: $9,000 - $15,000 (depending on relocation location)
- Recruitment Incentive: $15,000 based on full-time commitment
- Additional Benefits: Candidates with BC or Canada student loans may qualify for loan forgiveness programs.
