The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team on the GO Rail Expansion (RER) project in the Greater Toronto Area. This is a transformational project that will have a significant impact on the region's transportation infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of estimators, providing expert guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of drawings and tender documents to grasp the complete scope of work and submission requirements.
  • Develop meticulous bills of quantities (BOQ) using advanced techniques and software.
  • Establish material price lists, labor costs, and equipment requirements, and assemble crews while accurately pricing BOQ items.
  • Obtain competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising on quality.
  • Research historical data to compile insightful summary reports and establish robust estimating guidelines for the project.
  • Maintain meticulous records of working documents as essential backup for estimating figures.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to deliver accurate and comprehensive estimates that align with project objectives.

Requirements:

  • Over 7 years of hands-on experience as an estimator in the construction industry, with a proven track record of successfully estimating projects of significant scale and complexity.
  • A solid educational foundation with a university degree or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and comprehending complex construction drawings and blueprints.
  • In-depth understanding of construction methodologies, contracts, and cost control techniques.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain strong relationships, outstanding communication abilities, and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, enabling you to guide and inspire your team to achieve outstanding results.
  • Advanced proficiency in standard Microsoft software (Excel, Word, etc.), with additional experience in Adobe, Visio, and Bluebeam.
  • Impeccable time management and organizational skills, ensuring efficiency in time-sensitive situations.
  • A results-oriented mindset with an unwavering commitment to quality and excellence.
