Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our team. This role offers flexibility to work in either home care or hospital settings based on your preference.
Qualifications:
- Education: Personal Support Worker Certificate; high school or college diploma preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a seniors' home, long-term care facility, or hospital is an asset.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Word and email communications.
Certifications:
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Proof of current immunizations for MMRV (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella).
- Proof of negative TB skin test within the past year or negative chest x-ray within the past five years.
Other Requirements:
- Recent Police Background Check.
- Preferred: Membership with the Ontario Personal Support Workers Association.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide residents with assistance in daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, and mobility support.
- Administer medication reminders and light housekeeping duties as required.
- Demonstrate an ability to manage challenging behaviors in a calm and professional manner.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and coworkers, contributing to a supportive team environment.
- Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively report on resident status and collaborate with the care team.
- Exhibit strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of working independently and under pressure.
