Join our team at JBM GRANITE ET QUARTZ INC as a skilled Masonry Specialist. This role involves working with various masonry materials to create and restore structures that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Education Requirements- Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
The position is primarily set in a construction environment, where teamwork and safety are paramount.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and install bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry units.
- Assess and estimate the materials, tools, and equipment necessary for projects.
- Construct and install prefabricated masonry units.
- Prepare detailed tenders and quotations for projects.
- Build decorative installations such as patios and garden walls.
- Interpret sketches and blueprints to determine material requirements.
- Work at heights using scaffolding or swing stages.
- Utilize hand and power tools to cut and shape bricks and concrete blocks.
- Provide guidance and instruction to apprentices.
- Construct residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces using masonry units.
- Oversee the work of other masonry professionals.
- Lay radial bricks for industrial chimney construction.
- Install firebricks to line industrial chimneys and smokestacks.
- Restore and maintain existing masonry structures.
- This role is physically demanding and requires handling heavy loads.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform bending, crouching, and kneeling tasks.
- Must possess personal tools and safety equipment, including:
- Steel-toed safety boots
- Hard hat
- Gloves
Ideal candidates will have between 1 to 7 months of relevant experience in masonry.
