As a Senior Engineer at Toronto Hydro, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and shaping the future of the utility industry. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineer to join our team in creating a sustainable and efficient energy landscape for tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement innovative solutions across various aspects of utility operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, construct, and maintain critical infrastructure and systems.
- Contribute to the optimization of energy distribution, grid resilience, and overall operational efficiency through data-driven analysis and project management.
- Participate in short and long-range strategic planning for maintenance activities, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and objectives.
- Provide timely technical support and consultation, demonstrating effective project management and process efficiencies.
- Accountable for the timely, technically accurate, and cost-effective application of engineering practices, ensuring compliance with relevant safety and environmental legislation and regulations.
- Compare alternatives based on cost/benefit considerations, customer needs, safety, statistical analysis, and engineering principles, and recommend the optimum solution.
- Undertake and/or participate in special investigation and studies, and prepare reports with recommendations.
- Support the preparation of material and/or technical specifications and standards, and review proposals from suppliers, contractors, and consultants for technical merit and compliance.
- Investigate and evaluate the application of new technologies, and participate in implementing corporate goals and objectives.
- Represent Toronto Hydro in external meetings and/or committees, and may be called upon to act as a team or project leader.
- Perform root cause analyses of failure data, and perform trend analyses of equipment data and determine appropriate actions to improve and optimize capital and operations programs.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical preferred. Consideration to other disciplines such as Civil and Mechanical.
- Minimum four (4) years of relevant engineering experience in planning, design, analysis, and construction.
- Experience in data management and analysis preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective skills in project management operations, budgeting, process, and productivity improvements.
- Self-motivated, operates with a high degree of independence, and can visualize opportunities.
- Aptitude and experience in adapting to, managing, and facilitating change, willing to challenge the status quo.
- Demonstrated versatile leadership; encourages organizational teamwork, collaboration, and educated risk-taking to develop innovative solutions and support corporate goals and objectives.
- Strong negotiating/relationship-building ability.
- Proven effective problem-solving and analytical ability.
- Customer-focused.
- Ability to predict and understand technological trends and their effect on business or strategic work plans.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant safety and environmental legislation and regulations.
