Aecon Nuclear is seeking a highly skilled professional to oversee survey operations as part of a significant alliance with Ontario Power Generation. This role is pivotal in supporting the validation phase design and early site preparations for the construction of a Small Modular Reactor.
Reporting directly to the Survey Assembly Manager, the incumbent will play a crucial role in ensuring successful survey integration across various project bundles. This includes directing the Industrial Survey activities and personnel within both Nuclear and Conventional Islands, focusing on the overall construction scope, which encompasses critical components such as containment and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and execution of survey operations on the Nuclear and Conventional Islands, ensuring effective methods of survey and inspection, resource allocation, and adherence to work schedules.
- Develop and oversee Control and Measurement Plans for high-precision industrial layouts, including laser scanning and metrology inspection, while identifying potential risks and issues.
- Coordinate resources and control measures across project bundles to align survey support with construction priorities.
- Provide input and approve safety plans and procedures for all survey and inspection tasks.
- Implement and enforce safety, quality, and human performance programs, ensuring compliance with Aecon policies.
- Manage productivity and performance of direct hire labor and subcontractors, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Ensure survey personnel receive necessary training in safety, quality assurance, and technical qualifications.
- Review and support the creation of survey quality documentation and ensure compliance with project specifications and schedules.
- Interface with various stakeholders, including client representatives and design engineers, to ensure project alignment.
- Conduct regular field inspections to monitor survey progress and site safety.
- Participate in initiatives aimed at continuous improvement across the organization.
- Oversee performance management for direct-report employees, including coaching and career development.
- Ensure all project staff adhere to applicable codes of conduct and company policies.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in Industrial Survey Supervision and planning.
- Familiarity with nuclear construction processes is advantageous.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Industrial Survey practices, including high precision plant control networks and advanced surveying instruments.
- Proven experience in leading survey teams and delivering quality project controls.
- Strong understanding of Nuclear Safety Culture principles.
- Experience managing complex Nuclear or Industrial projects is essential.
- Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications effectively.
- A solid appreciation for Quality Assurance Programs and their importance in the nuclear sector.
