Job Summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Imaging Support Specialist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team. As an Imaging Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the patient and procedural workflow in our Diagnostic Imaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist technical and nursing staff with direct and indirect patient care activities.
  • Participate in the high-level disinfection of ultrasound transducers and storage in clean supply rooms.
  • Monitor the sub-waiting area and stretcher holding area for patients arriving for their procedure.
  • Facilitate efficient workflow by ensuring patients are in queue and prepared for their imaging.
  • Provide instructions for exam preparation as required.
  • Act as a liaison with patients in the sub-waiting area and keep them informed of procedural wait times.
  • Escort patients to other modalities in Diagnostic Imaging for additional procedures.
Supply Inventory and Work Area Preparation
  • Check and ensure adequate supplies in each area, including linen bags, garbage bags, and glove boxes.
  • Verify that necessary equipment is available in procedure rooms, prep rooms, and sub-waiting areas.
  • Stock and organize phlebotomy carts in prep rooms at the start of the day and throughout the day.
  • Prepare patient records, including requisitions, protocol sheets, and procedural paperwork.
  • Porter patient records throughout the department as requested.
  • Complete cleaning of prep and procedural rooms between patients.
  • Transport used procedure carts to the soiled utility room and prepare them for reuse.
  • Monitor and complete reprocessing cycles for transducers.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Previous hospital experience within a Diagnostic Imaging department.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Demonstrated patient focus.
  • Aptitude for working with delicate and heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of Meditech is an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to perform required tasks involving repetitive pushing and pulling, and extensive standing and walking.
  • Demonstrated ability to make quick assessments to solve minor problems and establish priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while also working effectively in a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record.
