Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Snowplough Operator to join our team at Emcon Services Inc. as a Highway Snowplough Driver. As a key member of our winter road maintenance team, you will be responsible for operating snowploughs and other equipment to ensure safe and efficient road conditions during the winter months.

Responsibilities
  • Equipment Operation: Operate snowploughs and other vehicles and equipment to clear snow and ice from highways and roads.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on snowploughs and other equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Reporting: Report any malfunctions or issues with equipment to the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience, or equivalent experience.
Work Environment

As a Snowplough Operator, you will be working in a cold, refrigerated, and potentially hazardous environment. You will be exposed to noise, odours, and wet/damp conditions.

Physical Demands
  • Physical Activity: Bending, crouching, kneeling, and combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Personal Suitability
  • Interpersonal Skills: Efficient interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Initiative: Ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary.
